During the Storj Town Hall on July 10th, we asked our community to vote for their favorite mascot. The mascot candidates highlighted our brand attributes of simplicity, security, resiliency, and decentralization, which we covered in our blog post announcing the community vote. We also talked about why Tardigrade.io deserves nothing short of a robust, yet charming mascot to join us along for the ride to a decentralized world. Our community members voted for their favorites, told us why they love the mascot they selected and ranked their selection from one (worst mascot ever) to five (best mascot ever) with a pretty clear crowd favorite.

We announced Tardigrade.io earlier this year, and the Storj team has been hard at work preparing to launch our network Beta ever since. So what better way to gear up for launch than inviting a new friend along for the ride? Why Tardigrade.io needs a mascot We developed the Tardigrade.io logo to be a bold, geometric representation of the microscopic animal’s durable and distributed nature. We kept the logo simple using basic shapes, knowing we’d develop a charming, fun-loving companion to compliment the Tardigrade’s minimalistic brand mark, help tell our story, and hopefully spark a few smiles along the way.

This week, we held our quarterly community town hall meeting where we shared the latest updates from the Storj Labs team. During this quarter’s event, we announced the Vanguard release for our new V3 network! We also shared other updates from the Storj Labs team including details around our new Tardigrade network and website; a look back at our Explorer release, which welcomed the first storage node operators to the network; our quarterly Token Flows and Balances report; a greeting from our new board member, Katherine Johnson; and of course, our live Q&A.
